One of the pinnacles of the 90th season is sure to be the appearance of Austrian baritone Markus Werba, who performs at such opera houses as Milan’s La Scala, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, London’s Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

With the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra Werba will perform Mahler’s tragic Kindertotenlieder (Songs of the Death of Children), based on the poems of Friedrich Rückert.

The concert, helmed by principal conductor Ondrej Lenárd, will begin with the early idyll for orchestra Im Sommerwind (In the Summer Wind) by Anton Webern, a representative of the Second Viennese School, and conclude with Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life), the monumental symphonic poem by Richard Strauss.

Anton Webern: Im Sommerwind, idyll for orchestra
Gustav Mahler: Kindertotenlieder
Richard Strauss: Ein Heldenleben, tone poem, op. 40

Ondrej Lenárd – conductor
Markus Werba – baritone
