PRSO & E.S.T. Symphony
As the curator of the jazz projects in PRSO’s “New Horizons” series, I am glad that we have managed to promote and agree on a concert by the wonderful E.S.T. Trio Symphony.
It is comprised of the important recordings of the trio of Swedish jazz pianist Esbjörn Svensson (1964–2008). In 2016 it was recorded by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and released on CD by the renowned ACT Music label. All of the music was arranged and conducted by Hans Ek. The dramaturgy of the individual parts of the suite contains the essential songs of the E.S.T. Trio, such as From Gagarin's Point of View, Seven Days of Falling and Serenade for the Renegade.
In the first decade of the new millennium, the E.S.T. Trio was rightly considered to be the most progressive and most inspirational band not only in Europe, but on the international music scene. It also achieved considerable popularity with the Czech public, both through its own recordings, which were the source of intense debates in the Czech jazz community, as well as through its unforgettable concerts full of energy.
It is a huge musical event that this unique project will be coming to Prague with the arranger and conductor Hans Ek himself behind the baton. The audience can also look forward to bassist Dan Berglund and drummer Magnus Öström, both original bandmates of pianist Esbjörn Svensson and the artists behind this music.
During the evening, there will be an exceptional connection between the world-class musicians and distinctive personalities of the Czech jazz scene.
