The first concert of February promises to be an exceptional experience, bringing together the music of the early Romantic period with contemporary music. Performed by the men's section of the Prague Philharmonic Choir and the low strings of the radio symphony players, it opens with the eerie Gesang der Geister über den Wassern.
The whole choir will then join forces with the rest of the orchestra and the Czech Radio Children's Choir to present the world premiere of a new work that forty-year-old author Jiří Kadeřábek wrote specifically at the orchestra's behest. In the second part of the evening the programme takes us through the music of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy back to the legacy of Franz Schubert, whose famous "Unfinished" will be heard.
